Valley Way Tentsite, NH 7 Miles Hiked Today 1840 of 2167 Miles Hiked Total

Erik atop Mount Washington Today we weren't so lucky. The whole climb up Mount Washington it was raining and windy. Once inside I learned the winds were constant at 40 mph with gusts to 60. At those wind speeds and the temperature at 40-45 degrees, the wind chill was 15 degrees or worse. So, we reevaluated and decided to warm up and then hike a shorter day today and tomorrow and day hike Friday. This is also better for Dave's legs.

The rest of the day went well. We did finally get some awesome views about 2:30 from Edmands Col. The bad part was that Dave slipped at one point and broke a hiking pole. I was able to fix it temporarily so it was o.k. to hike with.

The other downer was that when we got to the hut they wouldn't let us stay and sleep on or under the tables. So, we had to hike down .6 miles to this tent site. The good part is that our view from here is nice and the weather seems to be holding on partly cloudy (no rain!). This also means that we didn't carry the tent for nothing.
