Gorham, NH 0 Miles Hiked Today 1822 of 2167 Miles Hiked Total

View from Mount Washington Today had two good surprises. First, as Whitney and I walked into Dunkin Donuts, we were greeted by Socrates, Scavenger, Leapfrog, and Happy Hour. We ate with them and were told Zoom was at the hostel. I headed over there immediately to see him. He saw me coming up the stairs, yelled, and gave me a big hug. We spent a while talking. It was so great to see him! It had been two months and I had hoped to see him before the end. He is the same old Zoom with a bigger beard. He also sent his stove home and bought hiking poles.

The second surprise was that we actually had a view from the top of Mount Washington. Although the trail will take me over the top next week, 60% of the time there is no view, so Whitney and I drove to the top to see it and give me a chance to see the view (it was good weather, with poor weather promised). Mount Washington is the highest peak in the northeast and is the place of the highest recorded wind speed -- 231mph.

Errands and relaxing took up the afternoon. We met Zoom et al. for dinner. I love how the trail works things out.
