William B. Douglas Shelter, VT 17  Miles Hiked Today 1625 of 2167 Miles Hiked Total

Erik with Straton BearFirst: the trail was not as muddy today, but, my boot soles are still messed up.

Second: today was bad news for one toad. He jumped right under my boot as I stepped down. He was badly wounded, so I had to stomp him. Gross.

View of Straton ski village from gondolaThird: Stratton was cool. We took the AT to the top, went up the fire tower (beautiful views of mountains), and then hiked to the gondola to ride down into Stratton. We resupplied food, ate at an all-you-can-eat (Grizzly's), and shopped the outdoor stores. There was a lot going on for a ski village: a roller blade course, climbing wall, swimming, tennis, etc. After looking around we took the gondola back up and hiked on. It was a great day.
