William Brien Memorial Shelter, NY 20  Miles Hiked Today 1373 of 2167 Miles Hiked Total

William Brien shelterToday was a beast. A lot of steep ups and downs, which hurt the knees. A lot of the time we were bouldering just to be safe. It was quite pretty because there was little undergrowth, so we could see into the woods. The downside was that we couldn't see New York City from Mombasha Point.

The shelter is cool. It is made of stone and blends into the mountainside. Actually, the back wall is the hillside. It has these large boulders sitting around it which are great for drying clothes or just sitting. I am on my back on one now, getting ready to read. How wonderful.
